The Art
The cactus in San Antonio has it all, color, texture, it bears fruit and danger. Each plant holds a "dinner plate" of beauty. Its "tuna" or fruit is used in cooking and jellies. Pick carefully with gloves for the tuna holds a fine (and nearly invisible) layer of needles. Maddening when you pick it up for the first time...somewhat like peach fuzz.
The plant itself will have thorns or needles and remain very visible. Run through a field at your own peril. Actually, I think it best to put a print on the wall in the office and say, "Cactus? Yeah, I know cactus. Danger is my middle name..."
Be sure to catch Jim's homage to Georgia O'Keeffe in his Deer Skull in Cactus.
