Cistercian Abbey

The Cistercian Abbey. The monks begin with Gregorian Chant from the 10th century. A visiting priest celebrates the mass and provides the sermon. And the congregation responds in Latin.

When it’s over, no one bolts for the door. All remain standing until the monks file out, even until two come back to help the two most eldest. Seems like a couple extra minutes for slow monks would wear on you. But, when all have recessed, the congregation begins to leave, and a warm feeling comes over you for the respect you’ve just witnessed.
