The wind blown sands coming off the ocean blows across the highway in South Padre Island. The sand accumulation is quick as the dunes try to reclaim the roadway like a thorn in the skin of the earth.
Dunes Reclaim the Asphalt is a favorite ink painting of mine. Originally I captured it on the iPhone for detail recall before committing it to ink fusion on a buffed sheet of aluminum. It looks beautiful on canvas too, and in fact I can make it a bit cheaper that way (I still would use the archival canvas too).
On Aluminum, I make it a 30x30 piece and use an ink fusion method to meld the image to the metal. I tried it on the wall near my desk and found myself staring into the scene for minutes at a time.
Dunes Reclaim the Asphalt is by JimRode at FridayNightArt and is available here...
