The Art
You have heard of the Los Angelas Dodger Baseball Club, right? The team once was a team in Brooklyn, New York. The team gravitated from semi-pro ball to professional baseball. During their evolvement, horse drawn trollies moved to the modern electric automated trams. The presumed faster trollies were more dangerous than horses who would stop if you stepped in their path. And so, people and players alike were called by outsiders as 'trolley dodgers'.
Eventually, the Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers evolved to the Brooklyn Dodgers before their move to LA.
The resurgence of the "trolly" or streetcar, has been relatively safe and uneventful in Oklahoma City. Coincidently, the Triple A minor league farm team of the LA Dodgers plays in Oklahoma City. Someday, when the season opens, I'd like to see the Oklahoma City Dodgers riding the street rails in uniform...like a through-back to the days when both the people and the players were all Dodgers...
Art Details
This 20x30 ink fusion is by Jim Rode. The piece is created with inks on mylar. The mylar is permanently infused into a sheet of buffed aluminum at about 400º giving it stunner color. An aluminum hanger piece is added to the rear so that the art can be put onto wall display very easily.
