The Art

In the nearby battle of San Jacinto, Sam Houston defeated a superior force lead by General Santa Anna. At the end, Santa Anna was brought to Houston as he sat wounded under a tree. General Anna was hoping to blend in and escape with retreating troops, in disguise, while wearing the white pants of a private.

The city of Houston is like that. It is home and playground to the wealthy. Behind the scenes, in disguise, is a population that struggles paycheck to paycheck. In-between the rich and the poor are large numbers of well paid oil workers who work their butts off while saving their surplus. Some wouldn't live anywhere else, some can't wait to disappear.

In the sunshine, the city is humming. When it rains, the city gets wet - rich or poor, everyone gets wet. If you have little money, you get blue too.

Art Details

Houston in the Blue and Rain is a 20x24 ink fusion to a sheet of aluminum. The ink fusion is permanent with the inks burned in at 400º. The wall piece includes a hanger back for easy wall display.
