Los Compadres Cafe in Norman (1316 N Interstate Dr., Norman, Oklahoma 73072) was a good find for us. Since moving north of the Red River into Oklahoma we have found it difficult to get good Mexican food. There are a few places that are passable...and a few that are like..."Oh my no! I can taste the lard!"

So when we found out about Los Compadres on the Eat Around Town App, we figured let's try another... It was great! First of all, when you watch the waiter greeting people by name, you know they have repeat customers. The food was good and reasonably priced. And, I don't believe I'm saying this...the refried beans were perfect. Who would have thought I'd miss beans!? 

Homemade tortillas, generous portions, tasty salsa, it was great.

The only downside is the queso. It is kind of a white cheese like so many places in OKC. I think it is common to add something to stretch it. I do miss the cheddar-color queso you find everywhere in Texas. It is usually an extra charge, but you get what you pay for.
