The Art

The Daily Oklahoman Building was once where publishing was king. This art print of this stately building, circa 1910, sits in Automobile Alley in downtown Oklahoma City.

Automobile Alley is a district in Oklahoma City that once was lined in car dealerships. In the early age of automobiles, you came downtown to buy a car. Autos for sale were not in vast lots along the highway like they are today.  Back in the day, stately buildings seemed to be the proper place for auto sales. Showrooms on the first floor would have the 2-3 modals from Ford or Buick, and you made your choice inside out of the sun.

This publishing building anchored Broadway and car dealers jumped at the chance to locate on the same street.

Art Details

This image was originally an iPhone shot to capture the detail. Later, the file media was converted to the image you see. An 8-color ink process brought the piece to a sheet of mylar. I purposely left the streetlight in the upper left corner to ground the image in a location realism. This plastic-like image is then burnt into the aluminum at approximately 400º so that the inks become infused to the metal. After creating this piece, a box hanger is attached to the rear with an epoxy so that it arrives to your collection ready for wall display.
