The Art
Flying through my art I found an awesome dragonfly hunting its prey.
It was a happy accident. I crawled down the levee to capture the wind turbines in the fields close to the gulf. Flying through my iPhone shot was the four-winged bug. I didn't see it until I reviewed the photos. I start with the phone image to get my bearings on the art and colors. Turning the valley scene into an ink on canvas or a fine art print always begins from the photo and myself 'en plein' on the scene. The photograph captured the dragonfly better then the inked result...but I'm happy with it anyway.
The dragonfly is not the main subject of the image anyway...it's the mechanic scene of wind turbines in nature. I love this scene. being able to ask friends "Do you see the dragonfly?" is just a bonus.
