Downtown on a Rainy Morning - ink fusion on aluminum by artist JimRode at FridayNightArt
The Art
This image, OG&E Building Rainy Morning, is a favorite of mine. I created this in the first week of living in OKC. It was so exciting to create.
I had one of those sleepless nights. I awoke early on a Sunday when the city was still sleeping in. Really, sleeping off from a wild Saturday night. In driving around downtown Oklahoma City I found the sightseeing and street reflections inspiring. It depicts the empty streets of Oklahoma City on a rainy Sunday morning before dawn. The lights of the city are reflected on the wet pavement. The sky's rain clouds have a blue-tinted look of cotton candy. It's kind of like meeting new people...they may be prettier for the first few hours...
What
This art is an ink fusion on aluminum, 20x30 inches in size. I've used six colors here using archival inks that are fused to metal via a mylar print. This plastic-like image is then burnt into the aluminum at approximately 400º so that the inks become infused to the metal. After creating this piece, a box hanger is attached to the rear with an epoxy so that it arrives to your collection ready for wall display.
I've also created an approximately 20x30 version, ink on linen on a wood frame. Colors are slightly muted as the original recreated on a sheet of aluminum. It would be cool art for the office. Heck, if you work and hang it at OG&E, it probably is tax deductible! (But, I'm no tax expert!)
