While traveling in Harlingen Texas, I revisited this Catholic church on a foggy morning. It is one of my favorites for church art. It is the Immaculate Heart of Mary church in Harlingen. This is an old church in the Rio Grande Valley that has so much character. I have photographed it several times. It looks different each time as if visiting a friend who has grown and aged over the years.

In photographing it, I recognized that the fog would create layers of what would be distinct and clear to the eye. In creating this ink fusion, I took advantage of the foggy scene around the church with inks applied to a plastic. There was a diffusion of the inks as they were burned to the metal canvas. The clouds, fog and mist surrounding the church gave the valley sky a very cool look. The church bricks came alive is the portrait. The steeple of the church really stands out and the cross at it's zenith draws the eye. 

The layers of brown and blue inks are balanced and pleases the eye. In testing this image, I hung in an office with white walls. It really popped! It makes a great portrait.

20x24 ink fusion to metal. It has a metal hanging box epoxied to the aluminum to make it easy to display on the wall.
