The Art
The Last Ride to Cabo. Visiting Cabo San Lucas by air staying at a hotel is so very different than arriving by cruise ship. By ship, you are attending a "tasting" - just a spoonful of Cabo limited to 7 hours of time. To get into the city from the dock (where the tinder boat leaves you), you run a gauntlet of kind but needy sales people, arms out, presenting their invitation to step inside for their jewelry, trinkets, and souvenirs. Their english is perfect. For all you know, they grew up down the street from you. Language is no barrier to making a sale.
And then there are the store windows. Displayed are t-shirts, wrestling masks, shoes and anti-biotic banners. You know, the old folks on the cruise ships are always running low and anti-biotics! I don't know if you need to bring your own prescription or they call a doctor nearby for a rubber stamp okay. The gauntlet walk is in itself, is kind of a touristy Mexico experience that I found quite acceptable.
However, just to be safe, I walked the same path back along the harbor to be sure I'm on time for tinder boat. Miss the last boat at 5 pm, and the ship sails without you. Somehow, I fear people miss the boat and then become part of the gauntlet as if in a Twilight Zone fate. Not me, I'm early to catch the last ride back to the ship.
