The Art
Humphrey Bogart used to park his yacht in the marina at Newport Beach. Lauren Bacall, who loved him, but not the sea, was smart enough to nothing and let him play there. It is an American paradise.
Driving down Newport Coast Dr will leave you breathless. Seems like a thousand feet down to the water and everyone passes you by at 65 or 70. I think it's the view that makes you hate the speeding cars. Can't they see? Oh well, it is beautiful. At the bottom is the reward of a public beach with a mini-village of restaurants, grills, bars and miles of sand.
First day, get wet, sun, then get back to the park's gate and decide left or right. Highway 1 in either direction will take you through some of the most desired real estate in California. If only we had money, honey.
